God in the Box

This morning, I had the privilege of  attending service with the National Community Church.

This community worships in a movie theatre; nevertheless, they WORSHIP.

Pastor Mark started a sermon series called “The God Anthology” that covers 9 basic characteristics that attempt to define God.

1. God is mysterious.

  • We deify man and humanize God. Basically, we limit Him in the realm of the possible, and not in the realm of the impossible. This is a serious mistake because we try to contextualize God in a box without allowing Him to shape our lives from a vantage point that clearly cannot be understood by the human mind. As we commit to God’s holy presence, we need to embrace His mystery more than His certainty.
  • I thank God for hardships because it is in those moments when God reveals Himself the most to me. We try to resolve situations by getting our nails dirty, but it is Christ who has conquered “True Grit”. As we embrace the unknown and the mystery of God, we begin to embrace God Himself.
